Covid-19 is dangerously impacting the social-economic category of musicians. No concerts, poor political and social consideration, uncertain earnings. As a consequence, an ever-growing number of musicians, especially those from the experimental area, are trying to promote their music on BandCamp in digital format only. It is increasingly difficult for me to follow and review this incredible flow of music. I therefore decided to open this section on my blog Neuguitars where I propose music in digital format that I consider particularly interesting and worthy of attention. I hope you like it. Let’s support musicians. They need it.

This album came to be, spontaneously, as a result of a conversation about Metallica’s Master of Puppets. Adornedable Duos is not the only music to hold that distinction, but the premier ’80s thrash metal catalyst has likely never resulted in anything like this. The sensibilities of Finnish jazz/avant-garde guitarist Heikki Ruokangas and Appalachian Trance Metal maker Killick Hinds from the US here combine in a liminal space of calm-before-the-storm lyricism, stochastic lightness, and textured simultaneity. The effect is the promise of summer’s rejuvenation tempered by gathering clouds on the horizon, sweet and sour, informed by promise, beauty, loss, and transformation. Thank you for listening!
